First Tattoo

I finally got my first tattoo today. I created a phoenix design about 4 years ago, but just hadn't gotten around to getting it inked on my body.

There is a lot of significance behind this tattoo. Phoenixes symbolize new life. During a really rough patch in my life, I used to cut myself. I still have a faint scar near my elbow crease. I placed the phoenix design right beside the scar so it looks like it's flying out it. Christ gave me new life. He gave me so much freedom in His everlasting love for me. Even when I make mistakes, I am forgiven and loved. I get a fresh start. My chains are gone; I've been set free. My God, my Savior, has ransomed me. And like a flood, His mercy rains. Unending love. Amazing grace.

I got the tattoo at Amber Island Tattoo in Easley. Jesse was the artist. I would HIGHLY recommend him. Jesse did a fantastic job, was a super nice guy, and was so professional. It was a perfect first experience.

Fresh Salsa and Veggie Burgers

I found a recipe for veggie burgers that had a potato base. I found that intriguing and it sounded better than lentils or black beans. I substituted some spices and put in quinoa instead of bread crumbs to make them gluten-free.

They came out great! They paired well with the gluten-free buns I found at Trader Joe's and red onion, tomato, mustard, and lettuce. Here's the original recipe—

To go along with the quinoa/black beans tortilla chips, I made some fresh salsa by blending together the fresh ingredients pictured to the left. Turned out to be a fantastic vegan, gluten-free dinner!

Family

If you read my blog, you've probably run across this family before. Well, the mom is my best friend, so it's expected. I love this family so much.

Quinoa and Veggies

Eating clean is an ongoing process. It's HARD. It takes thought and preparation and money. But in the end, it's worth it.

For lunch today, I made some quinoa (cooked in broth I'd made awhile back and frozen) and then topped it with a bunch of sauteed veggies (squash, zucchini, onion, broccoli, jalapeno, green pepper, and garlic). It really didn't take that long and tasted great. What can you do today that benefits your health?

Tie Dye Follow Up

.....and here's how my tie dye tanks turned out! I'm a huge fan of both. I will say, I do want to get some more pictures of all the ones Lauren did too, but I forgot my camera when I went over there. *sad*

I'm happy with how these turned out—especially since it was my first time.
If you've never tie-dyed...do it!

Tie Dye and Dreadlocks

Last night was fabulous. Jake and I went over to Lauren and Joshua's home where we had a delicious vegan, gluten-free meal (yum!!), girl time with dreadies/boy time at Lowe's, and then we did some tie dying! I'd never done tie dye before so that was a cool new thing to try. I'll put pix up later of the finished products (the tees are still drying). Such a blessing to have amazing friends.

Peacock

I recently made this shirt for a client. She gave me a favorite tee that had faded words and also gave me a shirt she'd worn when pregnant but loved the color, so I combined them into a new piece of wearable art.

Paris

This is Paris through my eyes. How I saw it. The people there were just so beautiful.
Enjoy these snippets of Parisian life.
